Indian Olympic Association (According to the IOA, wrestler Bajrang Puniya has also been honored as a flag bearer at the Tokyo Olympics on August 8. IOA President Narinder Batra said this in an official letter.

For the first time not one but two flag carriers

This year, for the first time in the history of the Olympics, India will have not one but two flag bearers. Narinder Batra informed that the decision was taken to show gender equality in sports. Abhinav Bindra was the only individual Olympic gold medalist to be India’s flag bearer at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Veteran boxer MC Mary Kom is the first woman to win an Olympic medal for India. In 2012, Mary won a bronze medal at the Olympics. Mary, 38, has won several medals in India so far and this could be her last Olympics considering her age. So, she will definitely fight for her medal this year.
