Former Liverpool FC and Scotland ahead Ian St John dies at age of 82

Liverpool: Ian St. John, the previous Liverpool ahead who scored the profitable objective to seal the membership’s first FA Cup title and was a key participant of their rebuild underneath Invoice Shankly within the Nineteen Sixties, has died. He was 82.

St. John died on Monday following sickness, Liverpool mentioned on Tuesday.

A Scotland worldwide who later fronted the favored British TV present “Saint and Greavsie” alongside one other former participant, Jimmy Greaves, St. John performed 425 video games for Liverpool from 1961-71 and scored 118 objectives.

No objective was greater than the one he scored in further time to clinch a 2-1 win for Liverpool over Leeds within the 1965 FA Cup ultimate.

St. John joined for a club-record payment from Scottish workforce Motherwell whereas Liverpool was within the second division and, alongside Ron Yeats, was a part of the backbone of a workforce which earned promotion then gained the English league title in 1964 and ’66.

Liverpool described St. John as a “legend” and described his FA Cup ultimate winner towards Leeds as “one of the vital iconic objectives in Liverpool’s historical past.”
