German Open 2021 badminton event cancelled owing to coronavirus
The German Badminton Affiliation made the choice ‘in session and settlement’ with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the game’s international governing physique stated in an announcement.
New Delhi: The upcoming Yonex German Open 2021 was on Thursday cancelled owing to restrictions imposed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was to be held in Mlheim an der Ruhr from 9-14 March.
The German Badminton Affiliation made the choice “in session and settlement” with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the game’s international governing physique stated in an announcement.
“The continued COVID-19 restrictions and problems left native organisers no alternative however to cancel the event,” the BWF added.
The YONEX German Open is a Tremendous 300 event on the HSBC BWF World Tour.
The brand new-look BWF calendar, which was launched final December, sees various tournaments postponed from first and second quarters of the season, and a handful of Grade 2 tournaments cancelled.
