Mumbai: Former Indian cricket captain and superstar batsman Sunil Gavaskar’s birthday today. Gavaskar was born on July 10, 1949 in Bombay (now Mumbai). Today, everyone is showering good wishes on Gavaskar, who has been carrying the Indian batting on his shoulders for many years. But in all this, Virender Sehwag has wished Gavaskar a happy birthday. Sehwag has posted a short excerpt from a video of Gavaskar’s commentary and given it a catchy caption.

In the video posted by Sehwag, Gavaskar, while commenting during a match, is referring to something like ‘I don’t want to talk to you, let’s get out of here’. Sehwag has posted exactly this part and in the same way, Sehwag has written that he is doing ‘moving feet’ to the bowlers who are trying to dismiss Gavaskar. At the same time, Sehwag wished Sunil Gavaskar a happy birthday.

17 years ruled over bowlers around the world

Gavaskar made his Indian debut on the West Indies tour in 1971 after a stellar career in local cricket. Gavaskar could not play in the first match of the five-match series due to injury. But in his second Test in Port of Spain, he made his international debut, scoring 65 and 67 not out in the first match. He started his career by giving victory to India. He then led the West Indies with his batting and scored 774 runs in the four-match series, hitting three centuries and a double century. Even today, no one has been able to break Gavaskar’s record of scoring so much in the opening series. Gavaskar remained India’s opener for the next 17 years after an impressive performance in the first series. Cricket was played without a helmet at that time and even so, Gavaskar did not fear to score against a very dangerous bowler. That is why there were many records in Gavaskar’s name when he retired. He holds the record for most Test centuries (34) and runs (10122). He became the first batsman in the world to score a century in both innings of a Test three times. He also became the first batsman to score 10,000 Test runs. Despite not being a wicketkeeper, he had picked up 100 catches in Tests.
