New York: Kevin Durant was fined $50,000 by the NBA on Friday for his offensive and derogatory language in social media messages to actor Michael Rapaport.

Rapaport launched photos of the personal messages on Tuesday on his Twitter account, they usually included homophobic and misogynistic language from the Brooklyn Nets star.

Durant apologised Thursday, saying: “I’m sorry that individuals seen the language that I used. That’s not likely what I need individuals to see and listen to from me, however hopefully I can transfer previous it and get again out on the ground.”

He’s hoping to return quickly from a strained left hamstring.
