Paris: Dominic Thiem will sit out this month’s Monte Carlo Masters after admitting on Thursday he was not totally match heading into the European clay-court season.

The US Open champion pulled out of the Miami Open and also will miss the Monte Carlo occasion scheduled for 11-18 April.

“After Doha and Dubai I wanted a break,” Thiem mentioned on his web site. “I am not at 100 p.c but. I am so sorry, I’d have cherished to play in Monte Carlo, however it will not work out.”

The World No 4 will as an alternative spend the time practising on clay at house in Austria.

“I am having robust weeks forward of me, I’ve lots of work to do,” he added.
